Botany Unlimited Design Systems has created the coolest running, most powerful grow light in the world, without sacrificing afford-ability.
After lowering the bulb a couple inches, we narrowed the hood to three feet, made it flatter, and opened the top of the hood for convection cooling. The hood is made of aluminum and dissipates heat incredibly well. With the Lightrail-3.5 from Gualala Enterprises in the cage configuration, the hood runs in the mid-70 degree range.
Botany's proprietary lighting system is based on the Inverse Squared Law, or more simply put "light loss is exponential". Essentially, an object that is twice as far from a lighting source will only receive one quarter of the energy.
When applying this principle to growing, we are focused specifically on the P.A.R.,(Photosynthetically Active Radiation), or the quantity of light capable of producing photosynthesis. Companies in the industry today will boast P.A.R. levels of 800 umol - 1200 umol. In comparison, our lighting system runs in the 3000 umol - 4000 umol range, with the lamp in the canopy.
That's all well and fine, but what about the heat? Problem solved!
By moving the light with the Lightrail 3.5 made by Gualala Robotics, the chloroplasts are not forced to maintain a 100% charge continuously, thus not triggering the plant to protect itself by bleaching. The result is the fastest grow system on Earth.
You also get more square feet per light thanks to the Lightrail 3.5 and the excess P.A.R. the HyGroCage system delivers.
Simply stated. we get more light, to a larger area, for less money...
